| Did God Make Homosexuals? |
||||||||
| HELLO DARRYL AND KAYO, ....I NEED A LITTLE HELP ON HOW TO DISCUSS THE WRONGNESS OF HOMOSEXUALITY WITH [a friend] WHO THINKS GOD MADE HOMOSEXUALS THAT WAY AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT AND PREACHERS THAT PREACH AGAINST IT ARE PREACHING HATE.....HELP...HOW DO I DEAL WITH THIS...... THANKS, [Your Sister in Christ] Hi Sister! Good to hear from you. As far as homosexuality, the best answer I can give is this: If God did not exist and the Bible was just a collection of fictional, stories then homosexuality, abortion, bestiality, child molestation, rape, or anything else we feel like doing would be okay to do. Basically, "might makes right" would be the only rule. If you want to do something and you can do it, then it is okay. However, God does exist. He created humans in his own image. Because He is our creator, He alone has the right to tell us what to do with the bodies, minds, souls, and lives that He has given us. For example, if I design and manufacture a computer, I also have the right to write the instruction book and set the program limits to what the computer can and cannot do. For example, the instruction book for my laptop might say, ``Do not use this computer in the bathtub.`` The computer maker knows that if you use the computer in water, the computer will break and it will harm both the computer and electrocute the user. In the same way, God has the right to write prohibitions against homosexuality, murder, and adultery in the Bible (Instruction Book) because he knows that these things are bad for us physically, spiritually, and emotionally. If the Bible is truly God`s instruction book, then, the preachers who preach against homosexuality are not preaching hatred because they did not make up the rule, they are merely informing people about what the rules are. If I tell you how to use your computer, I am a control freak, but, if I tell you what the instruction book says, I am just trying to help you. Being angry at the preachers for preaching against homosexuality makes about as much sense as getting angry at a speed limit sign for the speed limit. If you are angry about the speed limit, get angry at the legislature. If you are angry that homosexuality is a sin then, get angry at God at least, then you would be complaining to the right place. There are many clear passages that prohibit homosexuality but these are irrelevant unless your friend accepts the authority of the Bible as God`s word. So, I would encourage your friend to do some research to find out whether Christianity is true or not. If it is true, then he/she should follow its teachings, accept Jesus as their personal Savior and obey the Bible. If it isn`t true, they can do whatever they want and just ignore what the Bible says. I hope this helps. In His Hands, Darryl and Kayo |
